Working together to strengthen the energy regulatory system

  • Strategy

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has signed an updated memorandum of understanding with the Commerce Commission. This signals our ongoing commitment to work together to improve long-term outcomes for New Zealand electricity consumers.

Our updated memorandum of understanding (MOU) recognises the changes in New Zealand’s energy system since our first MOU in 2010 and ensures the principles of our relationship remain relevant as New Zealand transitions to a low carbon future.

Through this MOU, we look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with the Commerce Commission to ensure our respective roles are well understood, coordinated and responsive to market developments.

By continuing to build a close and productive working relationship, we can inform and support an energy regulatory system that enables innovation and competition for the benefit of all consumers.
