Demand-side flexibility survey

We have identified that Battery Energy Storage Systems and demand response are the most likely sources of new flexible capacity in the immediate future to manage winter peak demand.

We have started to see evidence of emerging demand side flexibility in the market. However, we would like to further understand and quantify the level of available demand-side flexibility.

We invite all participants with confirmed or prospective demand-side flexibility to complete this survey by Friday 8 March 2024.

The information gathered from this survey will be used to assess available demand response and inform our consultation paper on Potential solutions for peak electricity capacity issues. It will also be used to inform future solutions for accelerating the uptake of demand response in the wholesale market.

All information provided through the survey will remain confidential unless the information is already in the public domain (or we are required by law to release it).

Any information published from the survey will be aggregated (eg, at an island level) so that individual responses cannot be identified.
