Senior Advisors (x2), Market Design

The Electricity sector is changing, and we want you to be part of it!

We work to make electricity more reliable, sustainable and affordable to all New Zealand consumers. We have a clear challenge to change the way in which the sector works with consumers, so this is the time to join the Authority to make your mark on the future of Electricity.

Our Market Design team needs two Senior Advisors. Electricity sector knowledge, particularly in the wholesale or retail markets, would be a real asset, but is not a must have. We would love to hear from you if you are keen to work with us, and your background includes some of the following:

  • Experience in a regulatory environment – such as the Banking or Telecommunications sector, Commerce Commission, MBIE or similar
  • Relevant technical expertise, e.g. in engineering, economics or law/regulation
  • Proven understanding of policy frameworks, and how to turn complex technical information into easily understood messages which underpin great advice
  • Broad experience with regulatory settings, including working with those impacted by decisions, and working within an economic framework
  • Great relationship management and knowing the true value of great stakeholder relationships
  • Proven delivery within a project based environment
  • A love of ambiguity and the skills to navigate this with flair
  • Between 5 and 10 years of proven experience in these areas

In joining the Authority, you get a flexible and supportive workplace, interesting and challenging work that benefits all New Zealanders and contributes to a better future. We offer excellent career development opportunities and an organisation that values its people, has great forward focussed leadership and where every day is different!
