Rulings Panel procedures
The Rulings Panel has published its procedures.
Finalised Rulings Panel procedures
The Rulings Panel has various functions under the Electricity Industry Act 2010 (Act) including assisting in the enforcement of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code) by:
- hearing and determining complaints about breaches of the Code
- hearing and determining appeals from certain decisions made under the Code
- resolving disputes between industry participants relating to the Code.
Under the Act, the Rulings Panel may determine its own procedures. The objective of the Rulings Panel procedures is to assist in securing the fair, effective, and expeditious resolution of any matter before the Panel.
In July 2017, the Rulings Panel completed its review of its 2011 procedures, and now publishes amended Procedures, which will take effect from 1 September 2017. The Rulings Panel wishes to thank all those parties who contributed to the review by making submissions.
Compared with the 2011 procedures, the main additional feature in the amended Procedures is a standardised process for commencing matters before the Rulings Panel.
The Rulings Panel will continue to monitor the application of the Procedures, and will make adjustments as the need arises.
