Generator audits
Generators are required to obtain and maintain certification in order to offer generation into the electricity market.
Generator audits
Some electricity generators must be regularly audited and are required to obtain and maintain certification to submit information to the grid owner which will be used in the electricity market.
Generators that are not also reconciliation participants need to be audited if they submit half-hour metering information to the grid owner under Part 13.
When a generator is audited
Audits should be carried out and submitted:
- two months before the generator is required to be certified
- on the date that we advise that an audit should take place
- at any time at the request of the industry participant or an approved auditor.
What generator audits cover
Generators are required to submit regular audits that check their processes for submitting information under Part 13.
If an audit identifies non-compliance with the Code a compliance plan is required to go with the audit. A compliance plan shows how the reconciliation participant will address the non-compliance.
See the following guidelines for generator audits and an inherent risk register.

Register of generators and published audits
We keep a register of certified generators. The register includes the generators most recent audit, compliance plan, certification expiry date, and the next audit date.
