Enhanced support programme

The Electricity Authority will 'offer enhanced regulatory support' via the Power Innovation Pathway to certain applicants in recognition of their project’s potential to deliver benefits to the electricity system and consumers.

The enhanced regulatory support may include, at the Electricity Authority’s discretion:

  • providing specific support to assist the applicant in understanding certain clauses or Parts of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 relevant to the project
  • supporting the scoping of a trial to ensure its outcomes inform regulatory activities
  • acting as a pilot observer to connect trial findings and perspectives to relevant Electricity Authority work streams
  • assisting in the identification of any Code barriers and providing information on the process for any exemption applications that may be required.

Any support the Electricity Authority provides will be in alignment with the Electricity Authority’s regulatory functions, statutory objectives and responsibilities.

About the Electricity Industry Act, its Regulations and Electricity Industry Participation Code

The offer of enhanced regulatory support does not bind the Electricity Authority in its capacity as a regulatory authority in any way.

The terms of agreement with the applicants set out the basis on which the Electricity Authority may withdraw our offer of support.
