Andrew Millar appointed as GM Market Policy

  • Corporate

The Electricity Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Millar as the General Manager, Market Policy.

The Authority worked with Hobson Leavy to attract several high calibre applicants for the role.

We are fortunate to have Andrew join the team and share his knowledge, insight and experience with the electricity industry with the Authority.

Andrew is a well-respected leader and policy professional with specialised skills in energy, climate, and natural resources policy. He has worked on domestic and international climate change issues, on upstream and downstream energy policy development, and on marine policy. Andrew has also worked closely with the sector during his time as both an official and as a consultant, so understands issues from both a public and private perspective.

Not shy of complex problems, Andrew is well placed to lead the policy team to work in collaboration with industry and other interested parties towards a low-emissions future.

Andrew has been acting in this role since March 2023 and officially starts in his permanent role on 26 June 2023.

This appointment follows the recent appointment of Airihi Mahuika as GM Legal, Monitoring and Compliance, as Chief Executive Sarah Gillies continues to build the Authority’s leadership team.
