Call for nominations for the Electricity Authority Advisory Group

  • Corporate

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is establishing a new advisory group to help us work more closely and transparently with the sector and consumer interest groups. We intend to use advisory groups to develop well-informed regulation.

We are seeking nominations for members from people across the sector, consumer groups, iwi and other interested parties to achieve diverse and informed perspectives within the group.

We invite nominees to complete and return the nomination form by 27 March 2024 to info@ea.govt.nz. More information on the advisory group can be found in the draft terms of reference.

Interested parties should consider the following aspects of membership:

  • Membership will be based on a flexible approach with members able to opt-out of a particular project(s) if they do not have the experience to meaningfully contribute. Not all members need to participate in all activities.
  • Members will have varying views and perspectives given their experience in the industry and/or with consumer impact.
  • Members will not be representatives of a part of the sector, but individuals are selected on their experience.
  • Individual membership will refresh over time to ensure fresh perspectives.
  • Membership terms would be three years with rolling expiry.
  • There will be a formal agreement to participate with clear terms of reference.

The Electricity Authority Advisory Group will be established by April 2024. It is a modified version of our original proposals for a new advisory group, as outlined in our Review of the consultation and feedback processes.
