Call for nominations: common quality technical group

  • Code
  • Low emissions

The Electricity Authority seeking nominations for a technical group to support the review of the common quality requirements in Part 8 of the Code.

We recently published an issues paper on Part 8 of the Code’s common quality requirements. Consultation closes on 30 May 2023.

The common quality requirements are the highest priority on our future security and resilience roadmap.

The objective of the review is to ensure Part 8 accommodates and facilitates technologies (particularly inverter-based resources) in a way that promotes the Electricity Authority’s statutory objectives.

Some decisions on changes to the common quality requirements in the Code could have material implications for consumers and the electricity industry. For example, decisions about how best to create a level playing field for competition in different technologies.

Common quality is an inherently technical and complex subject and requires a breadth of knowledge across the operation of transmission and distribution networks, as well as the operation of generation and demand-side management technologies.

This technical group is being set up to bring together people with different expertise and experience relevant to the review to share their knowledge and contribute to a well-informed process.

The technical group is an ad hoc group which will be established solely for the purpose of this review. It is not an advisory group under the Electricity Industry Act 2010.

Nominations must be received by 5.00 pm 30 May 2023. Please contact fsr@ea.govt.nz if you have any questions.
