Electricity registry improvements implemented
- Distribution
We consulted on three minor improvements to the Electricity registry in September and received 16 submissions. Thanks to all those who provided input.
We implemented the following two improvements on 30 November 2023:
- Added fields to better reflect the presence of distributed generation at a connection.
- Provided clarification that the electric vehicle field applies only to electric vehicles that support vehicle-to-grid functionality.
These changes will help ensure the Electricity registry is fit for purpose as more distributed generation and grid capable electric vehicles are added to the generation mix in the future.
Our third proposal to remove the ‘Property name’ field did not receive any support from submitters – we therefore decided to not implement this change. Users of the Electricity registry indicated the field was useful and added value to the connection information.
The Electricity registry is a national database of every installation connection point in New Zealand. It supports hundreds of thousands of consumers switching power company every year. You can view the consultation and read the submissions received.
For any queries, please contact compliance@ea.govt.nz. We will consider any non-compliance in the context of these recent changes.
