Code amendment omnibus #5
Consultation
We want to hear your feedback on our proposals in our fifth Code amendment Omnibus.
We use the “Code amendment omnibus” when it’s beneficial to consult on multiple discrete proposals to amend the Code concurrently. This streamlines the process to make it easier for participants to provide feedback and enables us to progress amendments quickly.
Our fifth Code amendment Omnibus consultation includes three discrete proposals to amend the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 to:
- extend the trader default provisions to all retailers
- update and extend the stress test requirements
- provide for pricing if systems are unavailable for more than 36 hours.
These proposals aim to:
- strengthen consumer protections when a retailer goes out of business
- improve rules in the wholesale market to ensure pricing information is available in the event of a large nationwide outage, and
- enable retailers to respond to stress test scenarios when longer-term price risk events occur, in line with the 2023 MDAG recommendations.
