Enabling investment and innovation
Registry enhancements
Improvements to the national registry of connection data.
Overview
We consulted on minor changes to the registry fields to improve the granularity of the data in the system. Thank you to all those who provided feedback via a submission. Read our summary of submissions and read our user guide on how to enter distributed generation information into the registry.
The changes will enable more distributed generation and electric vehicle data to be recorded at an ICP’s listing in the registry.
As we move to having more distributed generation and grid-connected electric vehicles on the network, greater visibility of the assets present at an ICP is needed for greater effectiveness of the ICP registry.

Project background
The electricity registry is a large database of Installation Control Points (ICPs) and their associated data. We’re keen to make some minor improvements to the registry to better reflect the changing nature of distributed generation becoming more widespread across the network.
The registry is where information about electrical connections to a network is held and is important for informing network users on what types of installation are present at a connection.
Changes or updates to the registry require an update to the registry functional specification which forms part of the terms and conditions that apply to participants that are granted access to the registry (paragraph 4.2(a)(i) of the terms and conditions in the Registry Access Policy).
